Lawn Mower Racing Rules


Are You Ready to Start Racing Your Lawn Mower? It's Time To Start Getting Your Mower Ready For The Upcoming Racing Season!!!

And You Need To Know The Rules...


Lawn Mower Racing Rules


Personal Safety (All Classes)

* Helmet

* Eye Protection (Goggles or Full Face Helmet)

* Full Shoes or Boots

* Gloves

* Long Pants

* Long-Sleeve Shirt


Tractor Safety (All Classes)

* Throttle: Spring Return To Idle

* Engine Kill Switch Tethered To Driver

* Good Working Breaks (Trans or Axle)

* Driver Must Stay Seated

* Battery Must Be Secure

* Fender & Foot Rest Must Be Attached & Form A Barrier Between Driver & Wheels

* Maximum 38" Width

* Exhaust Must Exit To The Rear

* Maximum RPM: 4500 Governed Engines Vertical Shaft

* Open Steering Built With Safety In Mind


RULES SUBJECT TO CHANGE FOR SAFETY OR COMPETITION FAIRNESS ONLY BY MAJORITY VOTE


Stock Class

* Engine, Trans, & Front Axle Must Be Mounted In Original Locations

* Gear Drive Trans Axle Only With The Pulley On Top 31 Series Briggs & Stratton or Smaller Single Cylinder Only

* Engine & Trans Pulleys Must Be In The Same Plane

* Racer Must Derive From A OEM Mower Chassis

* You may Lock Rear Axle

* Front Axle Must Be Welded To The Frame

* Must Use Original Front J Spindles

* Minimum 4" Ground Clearance (Exhaust May Be Lower)

* Rear Tire Size Must be 16" Through 23" Lawn & Garden Tire Only

* Front Rim Minimum of 6"

* Engine Must Be Stock Except You May Do Headwork


Modifeid Class

* Engine Must be 24 HP or Lower

* Engine In Original Location on Frame

* Stock Wheelbase + or -4"

* Majority Of The Frame Must Be OEM

Lawn Mower Race


Lawn Mower Race

Recently one of our very own mechanics, Jake Devall was involved in a lawn mower race at Post Oak near St. Elmo, IL. Jake had a great time being involved in this event. He brought home the gold and won 1st place in this race. Way To Go Jake!!!!

Jake has been a mechanic here at Bahrns Equipment, Inc. since May of 2007. He lives here in Effingham & is a graduate of Effingham High School. Jake often enters varies lawn mower races around the area.
